Official: Ivan Tasev transferred to Hungarian DEAC (Debrecen) – first Bulgarian in the club's history

Bulgarian outside hitter Ivan Tasev will continue his career in Hungary, after signing a contract with DEAC (Debrecen), the club officially announced. This is the first time in the history of the Hungarian team that a Bulgarian volleyball player has joined its ranks. The transfer wasvolleyweek.bgannounced on June 7.

The 22-year-old Tasev, who until now has only played for native clubs - Beroe, Marek Union-Ivkooni and Lokomotiv Avia, commented enthusiastically on the new stage of his career:

“I feel that here I have all the conditions to develop, so I accepted the offer. Last season at Lokomotiv Avia I didn't get as much playing time as I wanted, but I gained valuable experience. I came to Debrecen with big goals – I want to reach the finals in both the championship and the Hungarian Cup, although I am aware that this will not be an easy task.”

An interesting detail of the transfer is that Tasev got his impressions of the Hungarian Extraliga precisely from his teammate at Lokomotiv – Kristóf Horváth, captain of the Hungarian national team:

“Kristóf told me a lot about the league – according to him, it is at a very good level, with excellent players. This also tipped the scales in my decision.”

The young Bulgarian has already settled in Debrecen and is getting to know the city:

“I live alone for now, but I hope my girlfriend will move in with me soon. I like the city very much.”

Successor to an Olympian and... a European champion

Ivan Tasev is the son of former national setter Ivan Tasev-senior, participant in the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008. When presenting Tasev-senior, it is always forgotten that he is also... a European champion for juniors from 1986 in his hometown of Pazardzhik! Tasev-junior shares that he initially trained football, but on his father's advice, he changed sports:

“I immediately liked volleyball. I quickly decided to practice it professionally. I get a lot of advice from my father and always take it into account – he has seen a lot and knows what is good for me.”
