Poland to participate in a tournament and a friendly match with Brazil before heading to the World Cup in the Philippines

Poland enters a new battle after the triumph in the League of Nations

After conquering the League of Nations, the Polish men's national team begins preparations for the next big challenge – the 2025 Volleyball World Championship. The champions from Ningbo will undergo a serious control program before departing for the Philippines, where the competition will take place between September 12 and 28. Our colleagues from siatka.org report on the upcoming challenge for Nikola Grbic's team.

Dominance in Ningbo – without losing a set

"Druzyna Polska" demonstrated categorical superiority during the final phase of the League of Nations in China. Despite health problems in the team, the Poles did not lose a single set, including in the decisive final against Italy, won with complete superiority. The victory over "Squadra Azzurra" not only brought the trophy but also symbolic revenge for the loss in the final of the last World Championship.

Hubert Jerzy Wagner Memorial – the dress rehearsal

As tradition dictates, Poland will test its form in the Hubert Jerzy Wagner Memorial, which this year will take place between August 29 and 31 in Krakow. Four world powers will participate – Poland, Brazil, Serbia, and Argentina. Here is the schedule for the Poles:

  • August 29: Poland – Serbia

  • August 30: Poland – Brazil

  • August 31: Poland – Argentina

Last check against Brazil in front of a home crowd

The Polish Volleyball Federation (PZPS) also confirmed the final warm-up match before departing for the Philippines – on September 4, in the "Atlas Arena" in Lodz, the hosts will face Brazil. The match time will be announced additionally. This will also be a kind of remake of the Nations League semi-final, in which the Poles defeated "Seleção" before triumphing in the tournament. The Brazilians, however, recovered from that loss and won the bronze medals.

A look at the World Championship

The competition in the Philippines will start onSeptember 12, and the final is scheduled forSeptember 28. Italy will defend the world title – precisely the team that defeated Poland in the final of the last championship. This time, however, the Poles seem ready for revenge.

Poland will play in Group B, where they will face:

  • Netherlands

  • Romania

  • Qatar

At first glance, the task seems surmountable, but coach Nikola Grbić knows that underestimation has no place in a world forum.

With stable form, a deep squad, and championship confidence, Poland heads to the World Championship as one of the big favorites. Victories over leading powers such as Italy and Brazil, as well as a rich program of friendly matches, show that the preparation is serious. It remains to be seen whether "Drużyna Polska" will manage to turn its ambition into gold.
