Danail Dimov continues his career in Switzerland after Hypo Tirol's historic final.

The young Bulgarian opposite hitter Danail Dimov will play for the Swiss club Colombier Volley from the 2025/26 season, after being part of the last championship-winning squad of Austrian volleyball giant Hypo Tirol. The transition marks both a personal stage in Dimov's development and a symbolic end of an era in Austrian volleyball. Dimov's transfer is reported bywww.volleyball.ch.

Hypo Tirol closed its professional team at the end of the 2024/25 season, after winning the Austrian league title, Cup, and Supercup - all without a single loss. The Innsbruck team played its farewell season with absolute dominance, finishing with a full collection of accolades, but with the clear intention for this to be its last campaign at a professional level. The lack of sufficient support from the federation, limited prospects in the local league, and decreasing financial stability led to this decision. The club will continue to develop young players, but without an elite men's squad.

For Dimov, the season in Innsbruck was an important step forward - not only because of the trophies but also as an opportunity to establish himself in a stronger league and prepare for the next challenge. Now he moves to Colombier Volley - a team from the Swiss League A, which aims to solidify its position in the middle of the standings and look towards the playoffs. Dimov will again play in his position as an opposite hitter and is expected to be one of the team's main scorers.

The 22-year-old player's career began at VC Cherno More Bask, where he played during two periods - between 2019 and 2021, and again between 2022 and 2024. He gradually grew into a starter, and his good performance attracted the attention of foreign clubs. His time at Hypo Tirol confirmed the impression that Dimov possesses the qualities to develop at a high level, and the transfer to Switzerland is a logical step forward.

Colombier is an ambitious project, seeking stability and aiming for higher positions in the league. Dimov's presence is part of the strategy to refresh and strengthen the squad. For the Bulgarian opposite hitter, this is an opportunity not only to gain more international experience but also to take on greater responsibility in key matches - a role he seems fully ready to fulfill.
