Poland stopped Brazil and will play for the title in VNL 2025

"Seleção" remains in the battle for bronze

Poland confirmed its status as a world leader and vice-Olympic champion from Paris, after defeating Brazil 3-0 (28:26, 25:19, 25:21) and qualifying for the final of the 2025 Volleyball Nations League. In a semifinal match played in the Chinese city of Ningbo, the "white-reds" left no doubt about their superiority, interrupting the winning streak of the team led by Bernardinho, which had finished the preliminary phase as the sole leader.

Poland will contend for the title on Sunday against Italy, which eliminated Slovenia in the other semifinal. This will be the third final for the Poles in the Nations League – after losing to Brazil in 2021 and winning the title against the USA in 2023.

Brazil, for its part, will try to leave with a bronze in the match against Slovenia on Sunday.

Poland's dominance, only the Brazilians' defense was not enough

Darlan was the top scorer for "Seleção" with 16 points. Flavio added 6, and Cachopa and Arthur Bento each had 4.

On the other side of the net, opposite hitter Sasak showed great efficiency – 19 points with 80% success rate in attack.

Wilfredo Leon and Fornal each added 9 points, central blocker Kochanowski recorded 10, and Semeniuk – 6.

Final with a question mark for Poland

The semifinal was not without concerns for Nikola Grbić's team – in the middle of the second set, Tomasz Fornal suffered an ankle injury and left the game. Although he initially continued to play, he ultimately decided to withdraw himself. For now, there is no official information about the outside hitter's condition, and his participation in the final remains questionable.
