The city will host the Men's European Volleyball Championship and the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship
Varna Municipal Council gave the green light to host two of the most prestigious sports forums in Europe, which will be held in 2026 in the maritime capital. With full unanimity, the councilors approved funding in the amount of720,000 leva, which will be included in the budget for 2026,provided that the respective federations submit detailed financial statements.

The decision is a result of active and targeted communication between Varna Municipality and the leaderships of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BVF) and the Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation (BRGF). The initiative began in February, when an official letter was received by the Municipality from the Chairman of the BVF Management Board - Lyubomir Ganev.
