Official: The Italian Super Cup will be played in the city of Dammam

This morning, Tuesday, July 29, 2025, a press conference for the Del Monte Supercup 2025 was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

At a special event, the leaders of the Italian Serie A, Ali Mohammed Alamri, representing the Saudi Royal Authority, and Abdulh Alkholifi, representing the Saudi Volleyball Federation, officially confirmed the agreement for organizing the Supercup, which will be held for the first time outside Italy – in the Saudi city of Dammam. This location is a well-known global leader in the oil industry. The news of the press conference is on the official Italian league websitelegavolley.it. The originally announced destination was the city of Jeddah, but apparently, the plan has undergone a change.

We also offer you the statements about the event from the main figures in the Arab capital, Riyadh:

Massimo Righi (President of Serie A Volleyball League):

"During this brief visit to Saudi Arabia, we were received by the Italian Embassy and the Saudi Volleyball Federation. We spent a lot of time with representatives of the Saudi Crown project and, last but not least, we officially signed the agreement for the Del Monte Supercup 2025: we couldn't have asked for anything better. We have long been trying to take one of our events abroad, as we firmly believe that the SuperLega is ready for a further leap in quality, and we knew it wouldn't be easy. We are proud that we succeeded; the Del Monte Supercup will be the first official event of an Italian team sport played abroad, with the exception of football, of course. And this should be a source of great pride for us and for our movement: we have the responsibility to increase the visibility of our championship globally and to present Italian volleyball in a strategic international context. Opening a new path outside Europe, in a rapidly growing region like Saudi Arabia, means believing in development, innovation, and a modern vision of sport. I realize the difficulties that this type of decision may create for some fans, but I ask them to make an effort to understand that Italian volleyball will certainly benefit from the new visibility and opportunities created by the new markets. This sacrifice will lead to an even more famous league and greater resources for the clubs."

Fabio Fieschi (League CEO):

"The collaboration we have started with our Saudi partners is multi-year and opens up opportunities for technical and organizational development for both organizations. The signed contract marks the beginning of a relationship that could last up to five years. Saudi Arabia is a strategic region for us."
