For the fourth time, the "Ferramenta Astori Trophy" will be held in Italy before the A1 season
The tournament will for the first time pit our national team players Jasmin Velichkov and Boris Nachev against each other on Italian soil
The fourth edition of the "Ferramenta Astori Trophy" will take place on Saturday, October 11th and Sunday, October 12th, organized by Volley Montichiari with the support of Ferramenta Astori and under the patronage of the Italian SuperLega A1, according to the event's website eventivolleymontichiari.it.
Four big names from the elite division will take to the court at PalaGeorge in Montichiari: from the current Italian champions Itas Trentino to the most successful club in Italy \u2013 Valsa Group Modena, as well as Sonnepar Padova, where national team player and middle blocker Boris Nachev will compete in the new season, and Mint Vero Volley Monza, which will include outside hitter and captain of the U19 national team Jasmin Velichkov.
Almost two weeks after the end of the World Championship (coach De Giorgi's "Azzurri" will be called to defend their title from September 12th to 28th in Manila, Philippines) and shortly before the start of the championship (which is planned to begin just a week later, on the weekend of October 18th and 19th), the "Ferramenta Astori" trophy promises to be a key pre-season event for these four star teams of the Italian SuperLega.
The event will start on Saturday, October 11th, at 5:00 PM with the first semifinal. The other two teams will take to the court around 7:30 PM. On Sunday, October 12th, the match for 3rd and 4th place is scheduled for 3:00 PM, and the match for the "Astori" trophy will be played from 6:00 PM.
"After the exceptional success of last season \u2013 with a sold-out PalaGeorge, the "Astori Trophy" will bring men's volleyball of the highest level to Montichiari for the fourth consecutive year," commented Michele Tonoli, President of Volley Montichiari. We expect to repeat the results of previous years and hope that the entire community of Brescia and volleyball fans will participate in the event."
