Vladimir Stankov officially transferred to Lokomotiv Avia (Plovdiv)

The vice-champion of Bulgaria – Lokomotiv Avia (Plovdiv) – has formalized the transfer of setter Vladimir Stankov for the 2025/26 season in efbet Super Volley. The news was announcedfirst byVolleyweek.bgas early as May 8, and now the Plovdiv club has confirmed the information through its official channels.

"Welcome, Vladi! The player chosen as the best setter of the past efbet Super Volley championship is now officially a Lokomotiv Avia volleyball player. Vladi Stankov comes from CSKA and will be the team's orchestrator in the new season," the club wrote on social media.

Serious reinforcement in a strategic position

29-year-old Stankov replaces Ukrainian international Dmytro Dolgopolov, who moved to Neftochimic 2010 (Burgas). Born in Sofia, Vladi is a CSKA youth product, having also played for Levski Sofia over the years, and at various times was part of the Bulgarian national team.

Standing at 186 cm, the setter is known for his quick decision-making, excellent connection with the middles, and his leadership on the court. Last season was crucial for him – not only because of the individual award but also due to the fact that CSKA reached the semi-final phase of the championship with Stankov playing a leading role.

Lokomotiv builds a team for title and Europe

The Plovdiv club will have an ambitious program next season – both in the domestic championship and on the European stage. That is precisely why attracting a setter with experience, qualities, and proven authority like Stankov is a logical step towards building an even more competitive squad.

With this transfer, Lokomotiv Avia shows that it is a serious contender not only for the efbet Super Volley title but also for a respectable performance in international club tournaments.
