Kristina Guncheva will play in Romania during the 2025/26 season.

Bulgarian setter Kristina Guncheva will continue her career in Romania. The volleyball player signed a contract with CSO Voluntari 2005 - vice-champion of our northern neighbor and finalist for the Romanian Cup last season.

The news was officially announced by the club through posts on social media. In the 2024/25 season, Guncheva started the year with Montenegrin club Herceg Novi, with whom she won the country's Super Cup, after which she joined Greek club Panionios. There she played under the guidance of former Bulgaria national team coach Dragan Nesic and played a key role in the team's historic qualification for European club tournaments, as well as reaching the final for the Greek Cup.

Her new club - Voluntari - finished with silver medals in the Romanian championship and lost to Volley Alba-Blaj in the Cup final. Last season, Bulgarian national player Mira Todorova also played for the team. It is still unclear whether the latter will continue to be part of the team.

Guncheva has a rich international career, having played not only for her home clubs Maritsa (Plovdiv) and Levski (Sofia), but also for clubs from Germany, Turkey, Hungary, Switzerland, and Romania.
