The Turkish national volleyball team has a new head coach - Umut Çakır. He was an assistant to the French coach Cédric Enard, who was dismissed by the Turkish Volleyball Federation. The 48-year-old specialist took over the national team in February this year. Under his leadership, the team made an unsuccessful debut in the Nations League, finishing in last 16th place. The Turks won only one of 12 matches - against Iran (3:1). Turkey retained its place in the Nations League thanks to the expansion of the tournament to 18 teams. However, Enard's work was deemed unsatisfactory and they decided to part ways with him.
The new head coach - 46-year-old Umut Çakır - will combine working with the national team and his club in Turkey. The former setter began his coaching career in 2022, immediately taking charge of Galatasaray. In Çakır's first season, the team finished fifth in the Turkish league, and in the second - fourth.

This year, our national player Martin Atanasov will play for Galatasaray, as well as the French national team player Jean Patry.
