Before departing for the final Nations League tournament in Gdansk, the head coach of the Bulgarian national volleyball team, Gianlorenzo Blengini, stated that the team's goal is to qualify for the finals, although he realizes that extremely difficult matches await against teams ranked higher in the world. "We are going to Poland to fight and show the best we are capable of," commented the Italian specialist. He also spoke about the condition of Simeon Nikolov, who is recovering from an injury and is training hard without rest, but his participation in the matches will be decided day by day, as matches are a different strain than training. Blengini further clarified why Rusi Zhelev will be used in a different position – due to the presence of two liberos in the squad, which allows Zhelev to remain in the group and be ready to help if needed. "Each player cannot win alone, but can help the team, and the team can help him," he emphasized. The coach paid special attention to the first opponent, Cuba, which, in addition to physique and high jumps, also has very good volleyball players like Simon and Yant and is led by an excellent coach. He also recalled that tough matches with Poland, China, and Iran are ahead. "We must think ball after ball, match after match, to prove that we can play at a higher level than last year. This is a process that must proceed as quickly as possible," Blengini concluded.
