The saga surrounding the leadership of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BVF) has officially concluded, after the newly elected Management Board was finally registered in the Commercial Register. Thus, the new leadership, with Lyubomir Ganev re-elected for a second term as president, is now fully legitimate and can perform its functions without legal obstacles.
📅 What happened so far – chronology of the saga
➡️ The elections on September 28, 2024
On this date, a General Reporting and Election Assembly of the BVF was held in Sofia, at which a new Management Board with the maximum number of 17 members was elected.
Lyubomir Ganev received the trust of the clubs for a second four-year term at the helm of the federation (until September 28, 2028).
At the same assembly, the composition of the new Management Board was also determined, which includes a combination of re-elected existing members and new faces.
➡️ The complaint of "Slavia" and the judicial blocking
After the election, volleyball club "Slavia", whose president Ivan Seferinov was one of the candidates for president of the federation (but did not gather the necessary votes), filed a complaint with the Sofia City Court.
With it, the club challenged the legitimacy of the decisions made, which led to the suspension of the registration of the new governing bodies in the Commercial Register.
Thus, in the following months, the old Management Board continued to operate while the court was examining the case.
➡️ Withdrawal of the claim and the resolution
On April 29, 2025, by a ruling of the Sofia City Court, the case was terminated after VC "Slavia" officially withdrew its complaint under Article 232 of the Civil Procedure Code.
This also led to the cancellation of the court measure to suspend registrations, opening the way for the legalization of the new leadership.

Earlier this week, the new Management Board of the BVF wasofficially registered in the Commercial Register, thereby concluding the saga.
