Italian giant Modena has joined the growing protest against the planned changes to the international volleyball calendar for the period 2028–2032. The club officially supported the initiative#NoClubsNoVolley, launched by Perugia president Gino Sirci.
Modena's main concern is related to the possible relocation of major national team tournaments to the winter, which would necessitate interrupting club championships in the middle of the season.
According to the Italian club, such a change would disrupt the training and competitive rhythm, hinder recovery, and significantly increase the risk of injuries for volleyball players.
"Protecting the physical health and sporting interests of players must remain at the center of every decision," Modena emphasized, insisting on a real dialogue between clubs, leagues, federations, and athletes.
"Without clubs, there is no future for volleyball," concludes the official statement.
Bulgarian clubs Levski Sofia and Neftochimic 2010 have already joined the initiative, also expressing disagreement with the proposed changes to the FIVB calendar.
