The Greek men's volleyball championship enters the 2026/27 season with an expanded roster and a larger quota for foreign players. After eight years, the elite will once again include 12 teams, and for the first time, each team will be able to use five foreign players. Bulgarians are the most numerous foreign group with seven representatives.
The regular season will consist of 22 rounds, after which the participants will be divided into three groups. The first four will continue in the fight for the title, with both the semifinals and the final being played to three wins.
Teams between fifth and eighth place will determine the holder of the fifth position, which grants the right to participate in European tournaments. The first pairs are fifth against eighth and sixth against seventh, with series to two wins. The winners will continue in a direct dispute for the European quota.
The last four will participate in a mini-championship, retaining their points from the regular season. The two lowest-ranked teams will be relegated to the second tier.
Organizational requirements include video review, LED advertising boards, and Taraflex flooring in all matches.
