Kaloyan Valchinov started the season in Italy with 15 points and a win

Bulgarian outside hitter Kaloyan Valchinov successfully started the new season in the Italian Serie A3. His EnergyTime Campobasso defeated newcomer Taviano at home with a 3:1 (26:24, 23:25, 29:27, 25:19) victory in the first round of the "blue" group.
Valchinov started as a starter and finished with 15 points, being the third-highest scorer for the winners. Ahead of him were Francesco Guerrini with 19 points and opposite hitter Antonino Suraci with 17.
The match turned out to be significantly more difficult for the hosts than the beginning suggested. Campobasso took an 8:4 lead in the first set, but the visitors managed to equalize and only conceded after 26:24. Taviano won the second set 25:23 and restored parity. The third set proved crucial. The hosts again had a lead, which their opponent erased, before Campobasso snatched the contested part with 29:27. In the fourth set, Giuseppe Bua's team already controlled the game's development and closed the match after 25:19.
The top scorer in the match was Taviano's Cuban opposite hitter Williams Padura Diaz with 21 points.
Campobasso finished the match with 9 successful blocks against 4 for the visitors, as well as a 4:3 advantage in aces. However, the hosts made 20 service errors.
The victory brought Campobasso their first three points in the championship. In the next round, on October 24, Valchinov and his teammates will visit Terni Volley Academy.
