Blenjini's Milano with third consecutive win, crushed Novara

Numia Vero Volley (Milan), led by the coach of the Bulgarian national team Gianlorenzo Blengini, continues undefeated in the Italian women's Serie A1. In a match from the third round, the team decisively defeated Igor Gorgonzola (Novara) with a score of 3:0 (25:19, 25:18, 25:15) in front of 3586 spectators at the "Opiquad Arena" in Monza.
This is Milan's third consecutive victory since the start of the season, following successes against Florence and Macerata. Blengini's team collected a full nine points and broke their negative streak against Novara, which had lasted since November 2023.
The hosts had some difficulties only at the beginning of the first set, when Novara took a 14:12 lead. Milan, however, turned the tide with good blocking organization and won 25:19. In the second set, the visiting team managed to reduce their deficit to 15:16, but another strong period followed for Blengini's squad. The third set was entirely under the control of the hosts.
Paola Egonu was again the top scorer with 18 points, American outside hitter Khalia Lanier added 13, and Rebecca Piva finished with 11. The central blocker Anna Danesi was chosen as the Most Valuable Player (MVP), realizing 9 points, including an impressive 6 blocks.
Blocking became one of Milan's main weapons. The team finished with 12 successful blocks against 5 for Novara, and their attack efficiency was 52% against only 34% for the opponent. Libero Eleonora Fersino also made a significant contribution to defensive stability.
For Novara, led by Massimo Barbolini, only Tatiana Tolok reached double digits – 10 points.
"I think the girls played a stable match. We also had difficult moments, even the first timeout was requested by me to correct some things. However, the team reacted correctly and calmly accepted the difficulties. The players work with great diligence and deserve congratulations. We need to continue to grow in mentality, but for now, things are developing well," commented Blengini after the match.
Milan's next challenge is on Wednesday, October 21, when the team visits Bergamo at 9:30 PM Bulgarian time.
