Bulgaria will learn its opponents for the women's World Cup on October 26

The Bulgarian women's national volleyball team will learn their opponents in the group stage of the 2027 World Championship on October 26. The draw will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of Volleyball World.
The championship, which from the upcoming edition is named the World Cup, will be held in the USA and Canada from August 20 to September 5, 2027.
Bulgaria is among the 14 national teams that secured a spot through the world ranking as of October 2. The national team is expected to be placed in the fourth, last pot, if the distribution follows the world ranking. This would mean facing three higher-ranked teams in their group. For now, this is a preliminary assessment, as the official composition of the pots and the detailed draw procedure have not been confirmed in the organizers' public information.
The teams will be divided into eight groups of four. The top two in each group will advance to the round of 16, after which the competition will proceed with direct eliminations until the champion is determined.
Hosts USA and Canada and world champion Italy received automatic berths. Another 15 teams qualified through continental tournaments - three from each confederation. Among the participants is Russia, which entered the competition through the ranking, and Switzerland will debut at the world finals.
Matches will be played in five cities - Montreal and Quebec in Canada and Omaha, Orlando, and Anaheim in the USA. The decisive matches for the medals will be in Anaheim.
The tournament will also be significant for Olympic qualification: the three highest-ranked teams that do not yet have a quota for Los Angeles 2028 will secure their participation in the Games.
