Wilfredo Leon's future after the 2026/2027 season has become one of the most discussed topics in the transfer market even before the start of the club championships. According to information from Poland, Turkish Halkbank (Ankara) is showing serious interest in the 33-year-old outside hitter of Bogdanka LUK (Lublin), with an offer of over 1.5 million euros net being mentioned.
Polish volleyball analyst Jakub Balcerzak revealed in the show "Prawda Siatki" that, according to his sources, the Turkish club's interest dates back to the beginning of the European Championship. According to him, it is an offer that could be among the biggest contracts in men's volleyball.
Balcerzak clarifies that the matter is still unresolved. According to his information, Leon is waiting to see what Bogdanka's plans will be for the 2027/2028 season before making a final decision about his future.
The topic was also commented on by former Polish international and current television analyst Jakub Bednaruk. He would not be surprised by either a transfer to Turkey or Leon staying in Lublin after a possible new offer from his current club.
However, information about the financial parameters and alleged contacts between the parties remains unconfirmed. We received the rumor of a possible transfer while covering the tournament in Jesi at the end of last week, but we were unable to confirm it.Volleyweek.bgsent an official inquiry regarding the possible transfer three days ago, but received no response by the time of publication.
Leon joined Bogdanka in 2024 and became one of the key figures in the club's growth. With his participation, the team won the Polish championship title, the Cup and Supercup of the country, as well as the European trophy in the Challenger Cup tournament. He is a teammate of our national team captain Alex Grozdanov.
In December 2025, Bogdanka officially announced that Leon would remain with the team for the 2026/2027 season. However, the new information concerns the next competitive year and does not contradict what has already been announced by the Polish club.
Halkbank, for its part, continues to pursue the highest goals in Turkey and European club tournaments. The squad for the new season includes Bulgarian volleyball players Matey Kaziyski and Denislav Bardarov, and attracting a player of Leon's class would be another demonstration of the Ankara club's ambitions.
Whether the Turkish giant will indeed manage to attract the Polish international remains to be seen.
