Dunav (Ruse) will play its first friendly match of the new season's preparation against Romanian champions Dinamo (Bucharest). The match is on October 14 at 6:45 PM Bulgarian time and will be part of the hosts' official presentation to their fans.
The match will be the first opportunity for Ruse's new acquisition, Kacper Wnuk, to test his skills against a high-class international opponent after his arrival in Bulgaria. The 26-year-old Polish opposite hitter, 200 centimeters tall, joined Dunav after preparing and participating in friendly matches with Polish champions Aluron Warta (Zawiercie). Wnuk has experience in a number of Polish clubs, including Norwid (Częstochowa), MKS (Będzin), KPS (Siedlce), and Gwardia (Wrocław). In his youth, he won the Polish championship title and was named the most valuable player.

Dunav's opponent has a strong squad, featuring two bronze medalists from EuroVolley 2026 with the Finnish national team. These are opposite hitter Joona Jokela (202 cm) and outside hitter Niko Suihkonen (191 cm). Both were part of the team that brought Finland its first European Championship medal.
Among the most recognizable names in Dinamo is the 36-year-old Dutch outside hitter Maarten van Garderen (200 cm), who has many years of experience at a high international level. The squad also includes Greek setter Markos Galiotos, Cuban outside hitter Nivaldo Diaz Gomez, and Montenegrin opposite hitter Milutin Pavicevic.
Bogdan Tanase's Dinamo is chasing a third consecutive Romanian championship title and will participate in the Champions League in the 2026/2027 season. There is also a Bulgarian connection in Dinamo's coaching staff. Bogdan Tanase's assistant is 36-year-old Turkish specialist Aykut Aydın, who joined the Romanian champions this summer after two seasons with Neftochimic 2010 (Burgas). Prior to that, he worked for four years as a statistician at Hebar (Pazardzhik), with whom he won six trophies, and in his career, he has also been part of the staff of the Bulgarian men's national team.
For Ruse, the friendly match is an opportunity to test their readiness against an opponent with experienced foreign players. This summer, Dunav also attracted Latvian setter Markus Vensbergs, and Krasimir Mironov remains at the helm of the team. After the visit to Bucharest, Ruse will play two test matches with Dobrudzha – on October 17 in Dobrich and on October 24 in Ruse, when they will present their squad to the local public.
Dunav's first official match in the Bulgarian Super League is on October 31 against Beroe (Stara Zagora) in Ruse. The team will not play in the first round due to Cherno More's withdrawal from the championship.
