Finland won their first men's Golden League title after defeating the Czech Republic in the final and lifting the 2025 trophy.
Tense start and early control by Czech Republic
The match began with high intensity from both sides of the net, but the Czech Republic showed more concentration in the first set, winning it 26:24. Their strong serve and aggressive attacks set an early tone for the match and stifled the Finns' attempts to impose their rhythm.
Finland's comeback after a key injury
In the second set, however, Finland responded appropriately and leveled the score – 1:1. The decisive moment came when one of the Czech Republic's stars – Lukáš Vašina – sustained an injury and left the court. Jiří Bend came in as his replacement, but this disrupted the Czechs' game plan, and the Finns took full advantage.
Finland convincingly won the third set, using solid blocking and precise attacks that caused problems for the re-arranged Czech defense. The fourth set followed a similar scenario – the Scandinavians maintained their pressure and closed out the match to clinch the trophy.
First title in history
This victory is historic for Finland – their first title in the Men's European Golden League, earned with great character, discipline, and consistency throughout the tournament.
The star of the final and the battle for bronze
Joona Jokela was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the final after becoming the leading scorer with 16 points and playing a key role in his team's triumph.
Earlier in the day, Israel secured the bronze medals after defeating Greece in a hard-fought match, completing the podium for the 2025 edition.
The Scandinavian team deservedly took home the gold and showed that with the right strategy and unwavering spirit, one can reach the top. Next week it will become clear whether this historic title will also open the doors to the global volleyball elite for them.

Meanwhile, another Scandinavian team – Sweden – defeated Hungary in the finals of the Silver European League (3:1 and 2:3) and secured promotion to the Golden League next season, to compete alongside Europe's strongest.
