Italian national Alessandro Michieletto has extended his contract with Itas Trentino until 2029. Thus, the club has retained another one of its key volleyball players, after announcing new long-term contracts with libero Gabriele Laurenzano and setter Riccardo Sbertoli in recent days.
The 24-year-old outside hitter has been associated with Trento since his childhood. Having come through the club's academy, he made his debut for the first team on February 13, 2019, against Swiss Amriswil and gradually became one of the leading figures in Italian and world volleyball.
"Trentino Volley is my home. When I don't wear this jersey or I'm away from the hall for a while, I miss it. I started coming here when I was very young. First I was a fan, then a player in the youth teams, and later I fulfilled my dream of playing for the first team. For me, Trentino Volley is much more than a volleyball club - it's a family where you always feel good. I am extremely happy that I will continue to defend these colors," said Michieletto.
Club president Marcello Poli also did not hide his satisfaction with the agreement reached.
"Every time we see Alessandro on the court, we feel a special pride. Not only because we managed to develop the best volleyball player in the world, but also because we gave him the opportunity to pursue his dreams, continuing to wear our jersey. Every club in the world would want to have him in their squad, but for him, no other club can be like Trento," commented Poli.
By the end of the 2025/26 season, Michieletto has 271 matches and 3667 points for Trento. With the team, he has won two Italian championship titles (2023 and 2025), the Champions League in 2024, and the Italian Super Cup in 2021.
The new contract comes after a difficult period for the Italian national, who missed nearly seven months due to injury and returned to the court in September.
A day earlier, Trento also announced the extension of captain Riccardo Sbertoli's contract until 2029. The 28-year-old setter, who arrived at the club in 2021 from Milan, will remain with the team for at least three more seasons. The Italian national has made an important contribution to the team's successes, including two Italian championship titles and the Champions League trophy in 2024.
With Michieletto, Sbertoli, and Laurenzano staying until 2029, Trento secures the long-term presence of three of its most important Italian volleyball players.
