Bulgaria recorded a second victory at the first Balkan U16 Women's Championship, held in the 'Hristo Botev' hall in the capital. Vladislav Todorov - Sarata's girls defeated the team from Romania 3:1 (25:19, 23:25, 25:7, 25:22).
Our team started the match hesitantly, with the Romanians equalizing several times, but after the 16th point, our girls played more concentrated and closed the set. Our team's captain did not appear in the game, as she got injured in the first set of the first match against Montenegro.
The second part did not start well, with the Romanians taking a 3-point lead, forcing the coaching staff to call a timeout. We managed to close the gap to 8:9, but unfortunately, until the end of the set, our team was trailing in the score. Only at the end did our team manage to equalize 23:23, but their strength was only enough up to that point.
The third set seemed like a punitive action, as our girls pulled ahead early on with a 6:1 lead, and a barrage of unanswered points for the Bulgarian team began. In this part, we registered the most points from serves, leading to the crushing score of 25:7.
The Romanians managed to recover from the knockdown and started the fourth set more concentrated. The first timeout was called by the Bulgarian staff with the score at 6:9. An equalization to 14:14 followed after several erroneous plays by the Romanians, after which we maintained a difference of 1-2 points in our favor. At the end of the set, our girls missed closing the match twice, but after a service error from the Romanians, the victory in the match came.
