Beroe 2016 started its participation in the Stara Zagora Cup volleyball tournament with a loss. The hosts lost 1:3 (24:26, 19:25, 25:15, 22:25) to Serbian Vojvodina (Novi Sad) in the Ivan Vazov Hall.
The two teams offered an even match, but the visitors were more precise in the decisive moments. The first set was particularly contested, with Vojvodina prevailing 26:24, and then taking the second 25:19 for a 2:0 lead.
The Stara Zagora team reacted strongly and played their best set in the match. Beroe dominated the third part and won it decisively 25:15, bringing intrigue back into the game.
The hosts had a chance to reach a tie-break after leading in the fourth set. However, errors in the final rallies allowed Vojvodina to make a comeback and close the match at 25:22. The last point in the match came directly from a serve.
Earlier, in the first match of the tournament, Neftochimic 2010 defeated CSKA 3:1, after the Burgas team snatched the dramatic first set 29:27.
The Stara Zagora Cup continues on Friday with two more matches. At 4:30 PM, Beroe 2016 will face Neftochimic 2010, and at 7:00 PM, CSKA will play against Vojvodina.
On the last day, Neftochimic 2010 and Vojvodina will play at 3:30 PM, and the tournament will conclude with the match between Beroe 2016 and CSKA at 6:00 PM.
