The Bulgarian Olympic Committee now has a new home. The Chairperson of the BOC, Vesela Lecheva, received the keys to the building at 77 Vasil Levski Blvd. in Sofia, which the state has provided to the organization for gratuitous use for the next 10 years. Lecheva and Secretary General Danail Dimov conducted an initial inspection of the premises, and now it remains to be clarified how they will be distributed and what repairs will be necessary before the BOC moves in.
The building is well-known to Sofia residents as the former Iranian Embassy. It is located at the corner of Vasil Levski Blvd. and Ivan Vazov St., opposite Knyazheska Garden and just a few minutes from the Sports Palace and the Vasil Levski National Stadium.
The BOC received the property after a decision by the Council of Ministers on September 17. This resolved the long-standing issue of the Olympic Committee's own premises.
"Today we officially received the keys to this building. I thank the Bulgarian government once again for resolving a long-delayed issue. The Bulgarian Olympic Committee deserves such a home, which will be filled with content," commented Vesela Lecheva after the inspection. The ambition is for the new building to be much more than just an administrative headquarters for the BOC. It should also have space for sports federations, for organizing workshops and seminars, and among the ideas are the creation of an Olympic library and a museum of the Olympic movement.
"It needs renovation, a proper distribution of the premises. All of this will be done in a short time. I hope that this building will be a true Olympic home that every sports federation will feel as its own," Lecheva added.

The Chairperson of the BOC will acquaint the Executive Bureau with the specific plans for the building and the upcoming activities. The topic will also be presented to the members of the General Assembly of the Olympic Committee, which will be held on October 14 in Sofia.
