Our national team players resume training, Moni Nikolov awaits MRI

After a short break following the second week of the VNL, which took place in Burgas, our national team gathers again for a training camp in Samokov. Tomorrow, preparations begin for the third and final tournament of the competition, which will be held in Gdansk, Poland, from July 16 to 20. In Ergo Arena, the Bulgarians will face their direct competitors for a spot in the final eight - Cuba and Iran, as well as the hosts of the finals - China. We also play against the host of the third VNL tournament - Poland.

By the end of next week, the team roster that will travel to the northern Polish city will also be announced.

With almost complete certainty (99.99%), Moni Nikolov, who sustained an injury in the match against Turkey, will not be included. Our main setter has not yet undergone an MRI scan, as our medical team is first trying to reduce the ankle swelling. In Burgas, Moni had an X-ray to rule out fractures, which, fortunately, are not present. This gives hope that he will be able to start full training by the end of the month. However, the probability of seeing him at the finals in China, should Bulgaria qualify, remains minimal. The main goal will be his full recovery for the World Championship in September in the Philippines.

Until then, Lyuboslav Telkiyski, who was urgently called up for our team's fourth match in Burgas against Ukraine, will continue as the second setter.
