A champion with Levski returns to the Polish PlusLiga

Polish volleyball clubs are not just looking for new faces, but are also keen to bring back proven fighters. An excellent example of this is Barkom-Kazhany, who announced an impressive transfer – the grand return of Slovakian outside hitter Julius Firkal. Having played in the Champions League group stage with Levski Sofia and won a treble in Bulgaria (championship, cup, and supercup), Firkal is now ready to once again attack the heights in the Polish PlusLiga.

After a triumphant season with Levski – back to Poland

In the last season, Firkal experienced a true rise, wearing the Levski Sofia jersey. With the "Blues," he played in the Champions League group stage, and at the local level, he won everything possible – the championship title, the Bulgarian Cup, and the Supercup, recording an impressive treble in his career.

This achievement established the Slovakian outside hitter as one of the most successful foreigners in Bulgaria and logically once again attracted the attention of clubs from strong European leagues.

Return to Barkom-Kazhany Lviv with even greater ambitions

Now Julius Firkal returns to his well-known Polish environment, signing again with Barkom-Kazhany Lviv – a club he already played for in the 2022/23 season. At that time, the team finished 13th in the PlusLiga, but this time the hopes are different – with Firkal's accumulated championship experience and top-tier European volleyball, Barkom expects a much stronger performance.

A duo of experience and class in reception

In Lviv, they rely on stability and routine in reception. There, Julius will partner with Oleh Shevchenko, who is starting his seventh season with Barkom-Kazhany. However, the Slovakian will bring something different – the confidence of a player who has won titles and played against European giants in the Champions League groups, which is a wealth that few in the squad can boast of.

"The fan favorite returns home"

"The former public favorite is with us again! We are happy to see you back in our jersey, Julius!" the club wrote on their social media, welcoming him with special attention.

Thus, the champion with Levski, who triumphed with a treble and experienced the taste of the biggest European stage, is now ready for a new adventure in the PlusLiga – this time not just as an outside hitter, but as a leader who can lead his team to successes that the fans from Lviv dream of.
