Montana attracted Colombian talent for the new season

The Bulgarian volleyball club Montana continues to build its squad with interesting names from the international scene. The newest addition to the team is the only 18-year-old Colombian Haider Alonso Banguera Asprilla, who arrives with a reputation as one of the most promising young players in his country.

Born on August 22, 2006, Banguera impresses with his physique – he is nearly 194 cm tall, and at times in the Colombian press, 198 cm is also mentioned. He plays as an outside hitter.

Although still a teenager, the Colombian already has solid international experience. In 2023, he participated in the U19 World Championship, where he defended the colors of the Colombian national team. There, he distinguished himself with a total of 38 points, of which 30 were scored in attack, 6 from blocks, and 2 from serves. This places him among the important weapons in his team's squad. Just a year later, in 2024, Banguera was also called up to the Colombian U21 squad for the South American Championship, where he faced traditional regional powerhouses like Brazil.

At the club level, he has so far represented the Valle department team in Colombia. There, he was among the starters at the I Juegos Nacionales Juveniles in November 2024 and showed that he can take responsibility even in matches of tense domestic competitions.

His joining Montana this summer is an important step for both the player himself and the Bulgarian club. For Banguera, this is his first European challenge, which will give him a chance to encounter a different style of volleyball, higher tactical discipline, and tougher competition. And for Montana – an opportunity to have a young and ambitious competitor, ready to prove himself in every match.
