Lyubo Ganev: "I am satisfied with the team, this is the path to growth."

Analysis of the national team's performance

The president of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Lyubo Ganev, commented on the national team's recent appearances. He admitted that he did not want to go back to yesterday's match, which was affected by the injury of the key player Moni Nikolov. According to him, the team did not start the first set well, but in the second, they came back into the match and showed character.

"Today I can say that we played well, we just lacked a bit of luck. We dug up balls, but we couldn't convert all of them, while for the Ukrainians, things came a bit easier," Ganev noted. He praised the boys for their effort and stated that this is the natural path of growth - through such matches where mistakes are made, which will be ironed out with time and training.

Looking ahead and faith in the team

Ganev expressed confidence that in the upcoming matches, all the "small balls" that currently remain unconverted will turn into points for Bulgaria. He emphasized the importance of the players' health, wishing them above all to be healthy, because "everything else they will do themselves." The President of the BFV also stated that he was satisfied with the team's performance and recalled that the goal of two victories in the tournament was achieved in the first two matches, although they were unable to continue their winning streak afterward.

Gratitude to the hosts and plans for future tournaments

In his statement, Lyubo Ganev extended special thanks to the mayor of Burgas municipality, Dimitar Nikolov, and the municipality for building a "great hall," which allowed for the first major BFV event since 2023 in Bulgaria. He emphasized that he was confident that a wonderful atmosphere would be created and the hall would be filled, as "Bulgarian fans love winners." It was precisely thanks to the team's initial successes that tickets for the subsequent matches were almost entirely sold out.

What's next

The president of the federation recalled that in 2026, Varna will host the European Championship, and it will soon become clear whether Burgas will also host Nations League matches in 2027. "In the next month, once we make a clear assessment of what we have achieved here, we will surely come to an agreement. We will certainly use this hall again, but let's see when," Ganev said.
