Cuban with a Brazilian passport Yoandy Leal was injured during "selecao's" first training session in Paris. The incident happened at the Arena Paris Sud, where the Olympic volleyball tournament will be held. Leal sprained his right ankle when he fell on a teammate's leg during play. He was treated on the court and returned to the bench without needing support. Subsequently, physiotherapist Matheus Cardoso put an ice boot on the former Piacenza attacker, who did not return to training. His participation in the match against Italy is uncertain.
The same goes for his teammate Alan, who did not even participate in the session due to a muscle problem. This is not the first time the Brazilian outside hitter has been injured at important competitions. In early September last year, Leal felt pain in both knees just before the start of the Olympic qualification, as those with good memories recall. Others, however, gloat that this is karma, recalling the Olympic qualification in Varna in 2019, when Leal landed on Todor Skrimov's leg, taking him out of the game at a very important moment. Then our team was leading 2-0 and even had a match point that would have qualified us for the Tokyo Olympics, but fate sent the Brazilians to their next Olympic Games.
