The Chinese national team was on the verge of victory in the second weekend of the Volleyball Nations League, but despite their excellent performance, they dramatically lost to the USA 2:3 (22:25, 25:21, 25:19, 16:25, 11:15) in front of the Chicago crowd.
🧠
The Americans won the match thanks to a more effective attack – 65 successful attacks versus 52 for the Chinese. However, China's block proved to be the backbone of their resistance – 16 point blocks versus 12 for the USA, which allowed them to turn the match around and take a 2:1 lead in sets. The fourth set proved decisive, in which the Americans broke the opponent's rhythm with aggressive serving and dominance in attack.
Both teams showed almost equal play in the fundamental elements – 135 against 134 successful distributions in favor of China, 88:87 in reception, and even in defense the Chinese again led with a minimal advantage – 86 against 82 saved balls in defense.
Despite their great effort, China made more errors than their opponent – 28 against 25, which had a significant impact in such an evenly matched game.
