Poland took a mini-revenge against the USA for the Olympics: A 3:1 victory in the Volleyball Nations League

After an exhausting victory over the Netherlands, Stefano Lavarini's volleyball players had less than 24 hours of rest before facing the representatives of the USA. The meeting was a kind ofmini-revengefor the painful loss that the Poles suffered at the Olympic Games in Paris last year. Despite a weak start, the "white-reds" stabilized their game and won the match 3:1 sets.

Successful start in the Nations League

Poland started its participation in this year's edition of the Nations League more than successfully. Out of five matches so far, Lavarini's volleyball players have four wins, with the only loss being to Turkey after a dramatic tie-break. Against the Netherlands, the Poles were also close to losing, but managed to turn the match around and win in five sets.

Clash with an old acquaintance: Revenge against the USA

On June 19, in Belgrade, Poland faced the USA - the same opponent that eliminated them in the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games. The match was charged with emotions and a sporting thirst for revenge on the part of the "white-reds."

First set: American dominance

The USA started the match more confidently and quickly secured a lead of several points. The Poles tried to catch up, but had serious problems in reception and under the net, where 26-year-old Brion Butler dominated. After a rough misunderstanding between Alice Grabka and Aleksandra Szczyglowska at 22:20, the Americans closed the set 25:20.

Second set: Comeback thanks to Łukasik

The beginning of the second set was also not convincing for Poland, but after an ace by Martina Łukasik and a stabilized game, they took the initiative. Despite hesitations and the intervention of the USA coach with a timeout request, the Poles withstood the pressure. An ace by Łukasik ended the set at 25:20 for Poland.

Third set: Dominance and determination

After an even start and errors from both sides, a key block by Magdalena Stysiak and a powerful attack by Łukasik gave Poland momentum. Gradually, the advantage increased, and the set ended convincingly with 25:17.

Fourth set: Final assault and consolidation of victory

This time the Poles started confidently, but the Americans responded with a series of good rallies, leading 9:5. After a net error and a series of strong performances - including an ace by Katarzyna Wenerska and consecutive points by Weronika Centka-Tejciak - Poland equalized. New errors by the USA and two more aces by Łukasik sealed the success. The set ended 25:18, and the match - with a clear victory for the "white-reds."
