The "Roosters" categorically reached the European summit in Sofia, for "Squadra Azzurra" there remained disappointment, and "Druzyna Polska" consoled themselves with 3rd place after a five-game thriller with "La Furia Roja"
The final matches of the European U18 Volleyball Championship were played in 'Levski Sofia' hall. Here's a brief recap of what happened on the last competitive (ninth) day of EuroVolley 2024:
1. Spain vs. Poland 2:3 (21:25, 20:25, 30:28, 28:26, 12:15)
The first match of the final day of the continental championship was for the bronze medals between "La Furia Roja" and "Druzyna Polska". The game started better for the Poles, who won the first set 25:21. The second set again went under Polish dominance, who closed it at 25:20. Down 0:2, Spain mobilized to get back into the match and the battle for bronze - they secured success in the third set 30:28. This momentum continued for the Iberians in the fourth, as they managed to tie the score after another dramatic set - 28:26 and 2:2 sets. The tie-break was an embellishment of the entire spectacle that the two teams put on for us. Nevertheless, Poland shook off the shock they experienced, allowing the equalizer. "Druzyna Polska" won the fifth set, the match, and the bronze medals 15:12. This is a small consolation for the world volleyball power, while for Spain remains the disappointment of being so close to deserved accolades. Despite this, "La Furia Roja" can be proud of its performance at EuroVolley 2024, which took place in Bulgaria.
2. France - Italy 3:0 (25:15, 25:20, 25:21)
The grand final of the European U18 Volleyball Championship, played in Sofia and Plovdiv, pitted the "Roosters" against the "Azzurri". France executed a punitive action in the first set, leaving Italy with only 15 points. In the second part, "Squadra Azzurra" recovered, keeping the intrigue alive for a while, but the evidently more cohesive team of "La France" again took what was theirs - 2:0 after 25:20. The third set was the most balanced, judging by its final score - the "Azzurri" again fought tooth and nail, but at some point seemed desperate by the phenomenal defensive play and measured attack of the "Roosters". France won the set, the match, the title, and the gold medals of EuroVolley 2024 after 25:21. A fully deserved success for "La France", who did not suffer a single loss in their march to the trophy. They proved that they have the most skilled squad on the Old Continent at the moment. Italy is left with the great bitterness of the lost final, but also played a great championship, suffering their only loss in the final, unfortunately. We remind you that Viden Natsev competed for the "Roosters", and Manuel Zlatanov's name stands out in the "Azzurri" team. Long and, we hope, successful careers lie ahead for both volleyball players.
This marked the final chord of EuroVolley 2024 for U18 boys, which was played in the "Levski Sofia" hall in the capital and the "Kolodruma" in Plovdiv.
