The Bulgarian outside hitter becomes another Bulgarian volleyball player to wear the jersey of the team from Emilia Romagna.
Consar Ravenna is banking on the freshness and potential of Samuil Valchinov to strengthen its attacking power for the new 2025/26 season, according to the Italian volleyball dailyvolleyball.it. The transfer to "Bulgarian" Ravennavolleyweek.bgwas reported last month. The 23-year-old Bulgarian from Plovdiv arrives in Emilia Romagna after an excellent year in Serie A2 with Banca Macerata Physiomed.
With 369 points, 43 blocks, and 22 aces, Valchinov established himself as one of the best attackers in the past championship, finishing 14th in the ranking of top scorers. Sami, who has played for his hometown Victoria Volley Plovdiv, then went through Levski Sofia, Dea Volley Burgas, and Montana, is already a part of the Bulgarian national team. The team is currently playing in the Nations League and preparing for the World Championship in the autumn, which will be held in the Philippines.
Sami shares: "My first season in Italy was intense and full of emotions. I discovered a very competitive league, with excellent organization and quality players." The Bulgarian outside hitter once again chooses jersey number 21, which he will wear in Ravenna. Valchinov adds: "In Ravenna, I will strive to develop even further and solidify my game. Last year as an opponent, I was impressed by the atmosphere, the quality of the team, and the warm support of the fans. I am enthusiastic to be part of this club, in a city with a very rich history. I want to give my all to contribute to the project and experience a special year."
With this transfer, Consar Ravenna welcomes the eighth Bulgarian volleyball player in its history, thereby reaffirming its desire to continue on the path of quality and international tradition.
