The tie-break was a real battle, but the USA managed to clinch the final victory with 17-15.

The match took place on Thursday evening in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with both teams demonstrating high-class volleyball. The difference between the two teams lay mostly in blocks – the Americans made an impressive 14 blocks against only 5 for the Iranians. Although Iran scored 9 aces, the USA showed stability in their reception after the first set, which proved decisive.

Head coach Karch Kiraly, a legend in American volleyball, commented:
"These guys have a lot to be proud of. It was a true team match. Many players got into the game. Some call them reserves, but we call them 'game changers'. Everyone who came in changed the course of the match in some way. We are all learning together and it's great that we improved as the tournament progressed."

Setter Quinn Isaacson added:
"This win shows how much passion this team has and that no matter how much we are behind, we still fight very hard. There is a lot of fighting spirit and if we keep it for the next four years, we will be in an excellent position for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028."
