The set started evenly until 14-14, when the Argentinians began to dominate thanks to Gomez and Luengas. An ace by Palonsky and stable defensive play secured a 19-17 lead, and an attacking error by Canada brought Argentina success – 25-22.
Fifth set: Argentina asserts its will
The decisive set began with a 5-2 lead after strong actions by Gomez. Argentina continued confidently in defense and counterattack, led 12-6, and Luciano Palonsky finished strongly for 13-7. A serving error by Canada sealed the victory –15-8.
