The battles in the 'Kolodruma' hall also concluded. Italy and Spain are ready for the ½-finals – against Poland and France, respectively.
Yesterday, the last 4 matches were played in Plovdiv. Here's what happened on the seventh day of EuroVolley 2024 in Group B:
1. Belgium – Spain 3:1 (25:23, 25:14, 22:25, 25:22)
The Flemings and Iberians opened the last competitive day of the group stage in the 'Kolodruma' hall with a match that ultimately proved irrelevant for the final standings. Under other circumstances (if Belgium had accumulated more points so far), this match would have decided Italy's runner-up in Group B. This fact reassured 'La Furia Roja', which wrote off the match. Nevertheless, Belgium played the match at high intensity – winning the first, evenly matched game, 25:23. In the second set, the Flemings 'unleashed' themselves, leaving their opponent at 14 points. This seemed to 'wake up' Spain, which still managed to get back into the match after winning the third set 25:22. The match ended in the fourth set, with Belgium defeating the Iberians with a mirrored 25:22. Thus, the Flemings deservedly won and finished Group B in third place, while 'La Furia Roja' remained second and awaits their semi-final in Sofia against France.

2. Slovenia – Romania 3:0 (25:15, 25:21, 25:19)
This match was extremely short, entirely dominated by the Slovenians' 'style'. The team from the former Yugoslavia decisively won their last group match – 3:0 sets against our northern neighbors. The Romanians, unfortunately, could not offer any resistance to their opponent, losing the sets with 15, 21, and 19 points respectively. Slovenia's convincing victory allowed them to climb and finish Group B, which was played in Plovdiv, in fourth place. The Romanians, for their part, concluded the European Championship in last place in the group with 1 point – only Ukraine performed worse than our northern neighbors. The country from the former USSR remained with 0 points after the seven matches they played in their group. Nevertheless, both the Ukrainians and Romanians left decent partial impressions with their performances during EuroVolley 2024 for U18 boys.

3. Greece – Estonia 3:0 (25:20, 25:21, 25:21)
The 'Hellenes' concluded their participation in the European Championship by easily achieving a clear victory over the likeable Baltic team. The Greeks won the sets with 20, 21, and 21 points respectively, clearly showing that they were better than their opponent Estonia, who tried to offer more serious resistance to our southern neighbors but failed to do so. Thanks to this success, Greece finished EuroVolley 2024 in sixth place in Group B, while the Estonians remained just behind them in seventh position. Both teams showcased their qualities throughout the tournament but, unfortunately, lacked the strength for something significant.

4. Czech Republic – Italy 0:3 (10:25, 21:25, 22:25)
The 'Squadra Azzurra' 'drew the curtain' on Group B in the 'Kolodruma' hall, routinely defeating the Czech team. Italy won the first set 25:10, literally 'sweeping aside' their opponent. The second and third games again went to the 'Azzurri', but the Czechs put up much greater resistance – 25:21 and 25:22 for the Italians. The 'Squadra Azzurra' celebrated an undisputed seventh victory out of seven matches played in Group B in Plovdiv. Italy encountered no surprises on their path to the semi-finals, where they will meet the Polish team, and deservedly finished at the top of their group. The Czech Republic lost their fourth place, which they held before the last matches, and 'fell' to fifth position in the group. For their part, the 'Azzurri' are heading to the Final Four in Sofia with confidence and assurance.
