Dramatic victory in "Maracanazinho"
On Saturday, June 7, the Brazilian women's national volleyball team achieved a thrilling 3:2 (25:23, 21:25, 23:25, 25:20, 15:8) victory over Germany in "Maracanazinho," adding a third consecutive win in this year's 2025 Nations League (VNL). After falling behind 1:2 in sets, the "green and yellow" team managed to turn the tide of the match thanks to tactical moves by coach José Roberto Guimarães and the inspired play of Ana Cristina.
The first referee of the match was Bulgarian Ivaylo Ivanov, who officiated the match with authority and precision, in a high-intensity and tense encounter.
This washis second assignment as first referee in this year's VNL edition, having previously officiated the match between Czech Republic and USA – further proof of the international federation's trust in the Bulgarian referee. On the last day in Brazil, Ivanov will again be on the court, as second referee for the match between Korea and USA.
