The Serbian national team won the bronze medals at the European Women's Volleyball Championship. In the bronze medal match in Istanbul, Zoran Terzic's team defeated Poland 3:1 (25:21, 25:19, 15:25, 25:18). The star player for the winners was Tijana Bošković, who finished with 29 points. Serbia's star won the direct scoring duel with Magdalena Stysiak, who scored 28 points for Poland. According to CEV's official statistics, Bošković had 26 successful attacks. Aleksandra Uzelac added 15 points for the winners, while Branka Tica and Hena Kurtagić finished with 12 each. Serbia started the match stronger. The first set was even until 12:12, after which the Serbians gradually imposed their game and took a 15:13 lead, and a little later the difference reached six points at 20:14. Poland managed to close the gap at the end, but Serbia closed the set 25:21. In the second set, the Poles took a 12:10 lead, but a crucial run of six consecutive points for Serbia followed, turning the score to 16:12. From there, Bošković and her teammates maintained control and reached 25:19 and a 2:0 set lead. However, Poland did not give up. Serbia started the third set with a 4:0 lead, but a complete turnaround followed. The Poles took a 9:6 lead and subsequently dominated to win convincingly 25:15 and bring back the intrigue. In the fourth set, Serbia again imposed their will and with 25:18 ended the match and earned their place on the podium. The bronze also has historical value for the Serbian team. This is Serbia's third bronze medal at European championships after those in 1951 and 2015. The victory also broke Poland's streak of four consecutive wins against Serbia in their recent matches played in the Nations League and in friendlies. In major championships, however, the Serbians maintained their superiority – they defeated Poland at EuroVolley 2023, as well as twice at the World Championship in 2022. For Poland, fourth place is a repeat of their achievement from EuroVolley 2019. The Poles continue to wait for their first European medal since the bronze in 2009. Serbia reached the bronze medal match after losing to hosts Turkey 0:3 (20:25, 19:25, 20:25), while Poland lost to Italy 1:3 (19:25, 19:25, 25:21, 16:25).
