Bulgarian international Kalina Veneva, U18 European champion and U19 World champion, continues her preparation for the new season in Italy with a strong performance.
Veneva scored 13 points for Valsabbina Millenium Brescia in a 2:2 (23:25, 24:26, 25:14, 25:21) draw against Futura Giovani Volley Busto Arsizio in a joint training session at "PalaGeorge" in Montichiari.
The Bulgarian started as a starting outside hitter and became Brescia's second-highest scorer. Only Portuguese international Julia Cavalcanti scored more points – 16. For Busto Arsizio, the top scorer was Masha Siftar with 12 points.
Busto, who is among the contenders for promotion to the Italian elite, took the first two sets with 25:23 and 26:24. Brescia then found its rhythm and equalized after 25:14 and 25:21.
Veneva played a significant role in the change in the match's development. In the third set, her powerful attack gave Brescia a 10:4 lead, which subsequently led to a decisive 25:14.
The Bulgarian international remained on the court in the fourth set, and it was she who brought set point at 24:21. Then Shilkovsky ended the match with a block for 25:21 and the final 2:2.
The next test for Kalina Veneva and Valsabbina Millenium Brescia is on September 12 at 5:00 PM at "PalaCima" in Alessandria against Granda Volley Cuneo.
