The Egyptian women's national team is the new African champion and will play at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
The Egyptians defeated the host and defending champion Kenya 3:0 (25:22, 25:15, 25:15) in the final of the continental championship at the "Kasarani Arena" in Nairobi.
Thus, Egypt got revenge on Kenya for the lost final in 2023 and won its fourth African title in its history. The previous three were from 1976, 1989, and 2003, which means the Egyptians return to the continental top after 23 years.

The victory also brought Egypt the biggest prize – Africa's direct quota for the Olympic tournament in Los Angeles 2028.
The triumph impressively concluded the Egyptians' flawless tournament. They reached the final with six wins and without losing a single set, and Kenya also failed to break their streak. Thus, Egypt finished the championship with 7 wins from 7 matches and 21:0 sets.
In the semi-final, Egypt overcame Rwanda 3:0 (25:5, 25:17, 32:30), while Kenya dealt with Cameroon 3:0 (25:19, 25:20, 25:20). This led to a repeat of the 2023 final, but this time with a different champion.
Kenya was left with silver medals and missed the opportunity to increase its record tally of 10 African titles. Egypt, on the other hand, ended a 23-year wait and did so emphatically – without losing a single set in Nairobi.
In the third-place match, Cameroon defeated Rwanda 3:0 (25:17, 25:16, 25:19), won the bronze medals, and took the third and final African quota for the 2027 World Cup. Kenya and Egypt had already secured the other two quotas by reaching the final.
Bulgaria also had representation in the battle for bronze. Our best international referee, Ivaylo Ivanov, was among the arbiters of the Cameroon – Rwanda match. A day earlier, Ivanov was the first referee in the Rwanda – Egypt semi-final, and in the quarterfinals, he also officiated the Kenya – Algeria match.
