Nikolay Ivanov takes on a new challenge in Italy

Bulgarian volleyball talent Nikolay Ivanov will continue his career in the Italian Serie A2, joiningLibertas Brianza– a team that strives for stable positions in one of the most competitive leagues in Europe. This is a huge step forward for the 19-year-old receiver, who began his professional journey in the academy ofDobrudzha 07. Nikolay already has significant successes on the international stage – a fifth place at a world championship, a silver medal from the Balkan Championship, and a European vice-champion title last year. He is on the list of junior national team players who may also be included in the men's team this year.

Rising Star from Dobrudzha

Nikolay made his debut for the men's team of Dobrudzha 07 at just 16 years old – on October 15, 2022. With perseverance, hard work, and impressive performances on the court, he established himself as a key figure in the team. He stands out with a strong serve, good technique, and a fighting spirit – qualities that earned him recognition not only in the club championship but also among specialists in the country.

In his farewell statement for the club media, he shared:

"Thanks to Dobrudzha 07 – the club where I took my first volleyball steps and began my journey in professional sports. Thanks to my first coaches Veselin and Plamen Velikov for their faith and lessons, and to the fans for their support – it was always strong, loyal, and irreplaceable for me and for all the boys on the team."

The New Team: Libertas Brianza

Club Presentation

Libertas Brianza (officially: Libertas Cantù, but often called Libertas Brianza by geographical designation) is based in Cantù, Lombardy region. The team plays inItalian Serie A2, which is the second strongest division in Italian men's volleyball. The league is known for its intensity and high level of tactical preparation, which will provide Nikolay with excellent opportunities for development.

Libertas Brianza is a club with a serious academy, traditions, and stable management, which relies on both experienced Italian players and young foreign talents. In recent seasons, the team has managed to stay in the middle of the table in A2 and is looking for rejuvenation and growth in results.
Thus, another Bulgarian talent – Nikolay Ivanov – joins the Bulgarians in A2, Samuil Valchinov and Rusi Zhelev!
