Wilfredo Leon and Massimo Botti with key awards for the 25th anniversary of the Polish Volleyball League

The captain of the Bulgarian national team, Alex Grozdanov, was part of the historic squad ofBogdanka LUK Lublin, which recorded a golden season in Poland. It was a player and coach from this team who were among those honored at the ceremony celebrating 25 years since the establishment of the Polish Volleyball League (PVL).

🌟Volleyball Player of the Season 2024/2025 becameWilfredo Leon – the Cuban with a Polish passport made a splash with 610 points, a service record, and 9 MVP awards. With his help,LUK Lublin became champion of PlusLiga and won the Challenge Cup.

👨‍🏫Coach of the Season isMassimo Botti, who led Lublin to a double crown – European and Polish gold. The Italian built a stable team in which Alex Grozdanov also played a key role in the most successful season in the club's history.
🏆 The other awards from the gala ceremony:

🔹Volleyball Player of the Season (TAURON League)
Agnieszka Korneluk (KS DevelopRes Rzeszów) – 3 trophies with the club, including a historic title. Nearly 300 points in 25 matches.

🔹Discovery of the Season in TAURON League
Agata Milewska(ITA TOOLS Stal Mielec) - The 19-year-old blocker shone with 194 points in 27 matches.

🔹Discovery of the Season in PlusLiga
Dawid Woch(Asseco Resovia Rzeszów) - 261 points and a strong season, but remained outside Nikola Grbić's plans.

🔹Foreign Player of the Season (TAURON League)
Marrit Jasper(KS DevelopRes Rzeszów) - The Dutch player was a leader in defense and helped secure the 'triple crown'.

🔹Foreign Player of the Season (PlusLiga)
Patryk Indieka(Exact Systems Hemarpol Norwid Częstochowa) - PlusLiga's top scorer with 662 points.

🔹MVP of 1. Liga PLS
Jakub Nowak(Lechia Tomaszów Mazowiecki) - 324 points in 31 matches and a debut in the national team.

🔹Coaching discovery of the season
David Mihov(LOTTO Chemik Police) - stabilized the team in a crisis moment and will lead "Chemik" next year.

🥇 Special awards for the 25th anniversary of PVL:

🏅Team of the 25th anniversary (men)
ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle - three-time European champion and leader in trophies in PVL.

🏅Women's team of the 25th anniversary
Chemik Police - 9 titles and a dominant role in the last decade of Polish women's volleyball.

🏅Among volleyball players:
The "Volleyball Player of the PLS 25th Anniversary" award deservedly went toAgnieszka Bednarek, who isseven-time Polish champion- once with Muszynianka Muszyna (2011) and six times with Chemik Police (2014 –2018, 2020). She also has five silver and two bronze medals, as well asseven Polish Cupsandsix Super Cups- an impressive resume for the middle blocker.

🏆Among the male volleyball players:
The "PLS 25th Anniversary Volleyball Player" award was given toMariusz Wlazły- the iconic opposite ofSkra Bełchatów, with whom he played for17 seasonsand wonnine titles, as well as a total of13 medals from the Polish Championship. He adds to his collection7 Polish Cups,4 Super Cupsand6 international medalsfrom the Champions League and the Club World Championship. In recent years, he has played forTrefl Gdańsk.
