Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza has made a significant change in the setter position. After four seasons, the club parts ways with the French magician Antoine Brizard and entrusts the conductor's baton to the Italian talent Paolo Porro. This was announced by the club, where Hristo Zlatanov is a responsible factor.

Born in 2001, Porro arrives from Milan and signs a three-year contract with the ambitious team from Piacenza. President Elisabetta Curti sees him as a leading figure in the team's future technical project. Porro has an impressive resume even at a youth level: recognized as the best setter at the U19 and U21 World Championships, MVP of the U22 European Championship in 2022 in Montesilvano, Italy, where they played in the semi-finals against Bulgaria, whose squad included Simeon Nikolov. Piacenza was one of the options for the Bulgarian talent's first professional contract abroad.
The new setter is already part of "Azzurri" coach De Giorgi's roster for VNL 2025, and expectations are that he will be the next long-term choice for the Italian national team.
Here's what Porro told Italian journalists during his presentation:
"Coming to Piacenza is a big step for me. I'm happy to be part of a club that is ambitious, organized, and already established. I look forward to meeting my teammates, growing together, and experiencing exciting moments with the fans. I want to repay the trust placed in me with maximum commitment."
Porro is expected to lead the team alongside the attacking stars and face Alex Nikolov and Lube in direct clashes, which will again be among the most watched in Italy.
But before that, we can see a clash between the two as early as June 11, when the first match in the VNL between Bulgaria and Italy is in Quebec, Canada.
