Dimitar Karov enters the Hall of Fame!

Bulgaria now has four legends among the greatest 🌟

Bulgarian volleyball has once again risen to the world stage! Dimitar Karov – the legendary setter of the national team, has been elected as a member of the International Volleyball Hall of Fame for 2025 🙌🇧🇬

With three Olympic Games appearances (1964, 1968, 1972) and a silver medal from the 1970 World Championship, Karov is a symbol of class, character, and leadership. Known for his speed, intelligent play, and composure, he helped Bulgaria establish itself as a leading force in world volleyball. In 2019, he also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the European Confederation (CEV). 🏅

🎖️With this, Bulgaria now has four representatives in the Hall of Fame in Holyoke, Massachusetts:

  • Dimitar Zlatanov(2007) – Emblematic outside hitter, Olympic silver medalist (Moscow 1980), eight-time champion with CSKA, and a true icon of Bulgarian volleyball.

  • Boris Gyuderov(2019, posthumously) – Captain of the national team for 15 years, participant in Bulgaria's first Olympic appearance in Tokyo 1964, seven-time champion with Minyor Pernik.

  • Vasil Simov(2019) – One of the most successful Bulgarian coaches, recognized for his exceptional contribution to the development of volleyball in Bulgaria and abroad.

  • Dimitar Karov(2025) – The legendary setter, now officially among the immortals in the history of the game.
