Cuneo Volley's return to the Italian SuperLega begins with spectacular news: Ivan Zaytsev will play for the white-and-blues in the 2025/26 season. The news was officially confirmed last night at the end of the celebrations for the triumph in the Del Monte Supercoppa A2, in the packed PalaUbiBanca hall. A video message from "The Tsar," as Zaytsev is known, was broadcast on the big screen:
“I am very happy to announce that next year I will be wearing the colors of Cuneo. I will try with all my strength to defend the values of the club and always give my maximum on the court. Thanks to President Gabriele Costamagna and coach Matteo Battocchio for their trust. See you soon.” 🙌
The 36-year-old opposite hitter returns to Cuneo eleven years after his last stint with the team, but this time as the face of a project with ambitions for a sustainable presence among the best.
“I have always felt great emotions as an opponent in this hall, because of the warmth of the Blu Brothers and the crowd,” he said. “Now that I will be on the 'right' side of the net, I hope we can get excited together and build something special.”
👉 Last season, Zaytsev played for Turkish Galatasaray, where he was a teammate with Bulgarian national Martin Atanasov. Before that, he wore the jersey of Lube Civitanova, where he shared the court with our other representative in the SuperLega - Alex Nikolov. 🇧🇬
