Some of the invited teams for the next FIFA Club World Cup have become clear.

After the finalists in the men's Champions League became clear, CEV will almost certainly nominate Sir Safety Perugia and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie to participate in this year's Club World Championship. The two teams reached the semifinals of the most prestigious European club tournament and are a logical choice for representatives of the Old Continent.

However, FIVB has not yet announced the host of the competition, which is crucial, as the tournament is held in the midst of the European season. An eventual trip to another continent would pose a serious logistical challenge, especially for teams with a busy schedule in local championships and European cups.

In addition to the European representatives, invitations have also been received by:

  • Sada Cruzeiro and Praia Clube from Brazil

  • Al-Rayyan from Qatar and Osaka Bluteon from Japan

  • Al-Swehly from Libya

The lineup seems almost complete, but the decision on which teams will actually participate will depend on the choice of host. It is expected that once it becomes clear where the tournament will be held, we will also learn whether Perugia and Zawiercie will accept the invitations.
Last season, Sada Cruzeiro equaled the record of Trentino Itas (Italy), winning its fifth world title by defeating precisely the Italian colossus in the final, played in front of an ecstatic crowd in Uberlândia, Brazil.
