Pirin - Razlog is expanding its club structure and from the 2026/27 season will have a representative women's team. The new team will start its participation from the second level of Bulgarian women's volleyball - DEMAX+ Super League.
Thus, the club from Razlog, which has established traditions in men's volleyball, is taking its first step towards building a women's division. The intention is for the project to develop gradually and sustainably, with Pirin eventually becoming a recognizable factor in women's volleyball as well.
Maria Karakasheva will lead the newly formed team. The former national player already works as a coach in Pirin's academy and has a serious international career as a player.
Her assistant will be Ivan Durev, who has been part of the club's coaching staff for years and works with the girls' youth formations.
In this way, Razlog will try to combine Karakasheva's international experience with Durev's work and knowledge of the players from their own academy.
Pirin - Razlog's debut in the DEMAX+ Women's Super League will be at the end of October. The club is yet to provide more details about the squad, opponents, championship format, and the program for the women's team's first season.
The creation of the team is part of Pirin's longer-term strategy to build a comprehensive club structure and provide an opportunity for girls from the academy to continue their development in women's volleyball.
