The metro station near "Cherveno Zname" will be named "SK CSKA"

Sofia will have a new metro station, named after one of the most emblematic sports clubs in the country - "SC CSKA". This became clear after the Sofia Municipal Council approved the renaming of the station next to the "Cherveno zname" sports complex with 31 votes "for", 2 "against" and 2 "abstained".

The initial proposal was for the metro station to be called "Shipchenski Prohod" - a neutral name oriented towards its geographical location. Subsequently, however, after a re-vote initiated by Carlos Contreras ("VMRO - Bulgarian National Movement"), Ivan Takov ("BSP for Bulgaria") and the independent municipal councilor Ivan Aleksiev, the councilors decided to honor the army club and its role in Bulgarian sports.

With its decision, the Sofia Municipal Council pays tribute to the long-standing sports tradition associated with the sports complex and the CSKA brand. The "SC CSKA" station is expected to become not only a key transport hub but also a symbolic place for thousands of the club's supporters.
