New protest by "red" supporters on the eve of the vote by the Municipal Council for metro station "SC CSKA"

One day before the expected final vote in the Sofia Municipal Council regarding the name of one of the future metro stations on the new line, supporters of "the Reds" again took to the streets in protest. At 6 PM, the protesters, including members of VC "CSKA", blockaded the pedestrian crossing next to BNR on "Dragan Tsankov" Boulevard, which lasted about 20 minutes.

On May 12, the transport committee of the Sofia Municipal Council accepted the proposal for the metro station in question to be named "SC CSKA".

This decision by the committee comes after a series of deliberations on the issue of the station's name. Initially, on March 27, the Sofia Municipal Council approved the names of all stations on the new line, with "Shipchenski Prohod" chosen for this one, as it is located next to the boulevard of the same name. Subsequently, on April 24, Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev proposed that the station be named "SC CSKA", similar to other public transport stops in the area, but his proposal was rejected at that time.

Now, the proposal for the name "SC CSKA" was resubmitted by municipal councilors Carlos Contreras, Ivan Takov, and Ivan Aleksiev, and received the support of the transport committee. The final decision on the station's name is expected to be voted on tomorrow by the Sofia Municipal Council.
