Former coach of Bulgaria takes over Besiktas women's team

The Italian coachLorenzo Micelli, who until 2024 ledthe Bulgarian women's national team, was appointed ashead coach of the Besiktas women's team for the 2025/26 season. The news was officially announced by the Turkish club, which welcomed the experienced specialist as part of the "black and white family".

  • Born: October 24, 1970, Italy

  • He started his career as an assistant at Robur Tiboni Urbino Volley (1993/94), and by 1996/97 he was promoted to head coach.

⚫⚪ With Beşiktaş towards new horizons
Micheli's appointment at Beşiktaş comes at a time when the club is seeking stability, having finished 10th in the final standings of Turkey's Sultanlar Ligi for the 2024/25 season. It is not excluded that volleyball players with whom the Italian has already worked may be attracted to the new project – including Bulgarian players, given his strong ties with Bulgarian volleyball.
